45 Years of Enriching
Communities

Introduction

We are proud to share this timeline celebrating 45 years of Kraftsman’s journey. What began as a small family construction business built on determination and craftsmanship has grown into one of Texas’ leading recreation design and installation companies.

Over the past four and a half decades, Kraftsman has evolved
alongside the communities we serve—expanding from fences and
small playgrounds to large-scale parks, aquatic environments, and
full-spectrum recreation spaces across the state. Along the way,
we have embraced new technologies, expanded our partnerships,
and welcomed new generations of leadership, all while remaining
grounded in the values that shaped our beginnings: quality,
accountability, and service

This timeline highlights the milestones, challenges, and defining moments that have shaped our path—from early grassroots projects to destination-level installations throughout Texas. It reflects not only business growth, but the relationships, communities, and families connected through the spaces we help create.

Forty-five years later, the vision remains clear: build environments that bring people together and stand the test of time. We invite you to explore the journey that brought us here—and the foundation that continues to guide where we are headed next

Key dates and milestones

1981
Kraftsman began with construction expertise and a simple goal: build quality work that people could trust. The founders arrived in Texas with limited resources but a strong background in developing quality spaces and a determination to create new opportunities. Early projects were earned through persistence, long workdays, and a commitment to doing things right the first time.
These early years shaped the company’s culture. Quality workmanship, fair pricing, and meeting deadlines were not marketing promises—they were survival requirements. That mindset established a foundation of craftsmanship and accountability that continues to guide the organization decades later.

1982 to 1990
A volunteer church playground project provided an unexpected turning point and introduced the company to the world of play and community spaces. What began with backyard and small-scale projects evolved into a deeper understanding of how recreation environments bring people together. Kraftsman expanded into playground fabrication and manufacturing, growing into a regional provider with distribution across multiple states.
During this phase, Kraftsman evolved from a small family operation into a scalableorganization while keeping its collaborative culture intact. Long-term employees, trusted industry relationships, and shared values helped build a team capable of delivering increasingly complex projects across diverse communities.

1991 to 2000
The second generation grew into the company naturally, learning through job sites, trade shows, and daily exposure rather than formal succession plans. Their leadership marked a period of structured growth: stronger teams, clearer roles, and improved processes supported by emerging technology and expanded industry partnerships.
As industry dynamics shifted and large manufacturers consolidated the market, leadership made a strategic decision to pivot from manufacturing and focus on what the company did best - design collaboration, distribution partnerships, and precision field execution. This change in focus allowed Kraftsman to deliver broader solutions while maintaining flexibility and access to leading product systems.

2001 to 2010
A defining moment came with the introduction of water play and aquatic environments, expanding the company’s capabilities beyond traditional playgrounds. Splash parks and interactive water features added a new dimension to the company’s work, blending recreation, engineering, and public-space design. This expansion positioned Kraftsman as a more comprehensive recreation partner—integrating playgrounds, aquatic systems, shade structures, and site amenities into cohesive environments.

2011 to 2020
Projects grew in size and visibility, including large municipal parks and destination-level installations across Texas. Grand openings became a powerful reminder of purpose.Watching communities gather and children experience these spaces for the first time reinforced the “why” behind the development, ushering in a new era of creative, thoughtful design and reliable execution.

2021 to CURRENT
Today, Kraftsman operates under three generations of leadership; an uncommon achievement in any industry. New employees continue to add value to the Kraftsman team, bringing in new skills, technologies and fresh perspectives; all while staying grounded in the company’s original values: craftsmanship, service and getting the job done right.
Kraftsman’s evolution reflects more than growth in size; it reflects a shift toward full-spectrum recreation delivery. From early construction roots to largescale playground and aquatic installations, Kraftsman continues to focus on creating spaces where communities gather, children play, and projects stand the test of time.

The goal moving forward remains clear: combine trusted experience with innovation, creating meaningful environments that help shape communities for the next generation.
